Volksplane VP-1

Orio al Serio (LIME) airport, on a bright and sunny summer day...
One of my most rewarding experiences has been climbing in and flying the very airplane I built with my own hands. It was a long, beautiful but also at times stressful experience, which however culminated in one of the most intense emotions I ever felt in my whole life, an emotion that repeats itself each and every time I climb inside that little canopy after hand-propping the faithful, little Volkswagen engine. These pages detail such endeavor, showing all of the building process, decisions, errors and personal ideas, hoping to be an inspiration to all other actual and potential homebuilders, and trying to be a celebration of this simple, boxy and wonderful flying machine that William Samuel “Bud” Evans introduced to the homebuilder’s community the year I was born.
